betty Expands Exec Team
betty has hired adventure show runner David Harrison and features executive producer Kate Morey as it ramps up its features and factual output.
The announcement comes after betty recently produced its first series in China with Bear Grylls - Survivor Games, for Dragon TV - with Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific, Bear Grylls Ventures and DocuChina as co-producers and with a second run of Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners: Country House Rescue greenlit by Channel 4. David and Kate will develop and executive produce new shows.
David has previously worked at Tern TV, Zodiak Media, IWC and Indus, as well as running his own company, Ambition Productions. He is tasked with expanding betty’s adventure and male-skewing factual slate. David has led productions filming in some of the toughest places in the world, working with top talent including Bear Grylls, Ben Fogle, Freddie Flintoff and James Cracknell. His credits include Bear Grylls: Breaking Point (Betty for Discovery Networks International), Big Fish Man (Tern TV/Ambition Productions for Animal Planet), Ben and James Versus The Arabian Desert (Indus for BBC Two), World’s Toughest Expeditions and Flintoff & Dallaglio’s Big Ride (Zodiak Media/Ambition Productions for Discovery Networks International). David also developed Kings of the Wild, a Betty production for Discovery Networks International, starring hunter Josh James and chef Matt Tebbutt.
Kate will executive produce betty’s new six part series of Channel 4’s Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners: Country House Rescue. She joins the company from a stint at Fresh One where she produced House of Hypochondriacs for Channel 4. Her credits include executive producing Jews at Ten (Shine for Channel 4)). Kate series produced One Born Every Minute (Dragonfly for Channel 4) and Famous, Rich & Jobless (Love Productions for BBC One), she also produced Betty’s first series of Too Ugly for Love? for Discovery Networks International.
David and Kate join recently appointed Ceri Jones who is executive producing Super Couponers: Holiday (W/T) for Channel 4. Ceri’s previous roles include series editing Hair and series producing The Big Allotment Challenge, both for BBC Two.
